A breast lift elevates the breast tissue, repositions the nipple and areola, and enhances breast shape.

A breast lift will improve the position and shape of existing breast tissue, but it won’t increase breast size. If you require additional fullness to the breast, an implant may also be inserted during breast lift surgery.

An individual approach

A variety of techniques are available to lift the breasts, and Dr. Few will determine which one is right for you based on the amount of volume and skin that needs to be lifted as well as personal preference. His goal is always to achieve the best result with the least visible scarring.

Because the nipple and areola remain attached to underlying mounds of tissue, sensation and the ability to breast-feed are usually not affected. A breast lift can be performed at any age, but it is usually recommended to wait until breasts are fully developed.

The final result is firmer, higher, natural looking breasts. The procedure can also have a positive effect on self-esteem.

Procedural Steps

Anesthesia

Dr. Few typically performs breast lift surgery under general anesthesia so that you remain comfortable during your procedure.

Incision

There are three common incision patterns:

  1. Around the areola
  2. Around the areola and vertically down from the areola to the breast crease
  3. Around the areola, vertically down from the breast crease and horizontally along the breast crease

Reshaping your breasts

After Dr. Few makes the incisions the underlying breast tissue is lifted and reshaped to improve breast contour and firmness, and the nipple and areola are repositioned to a natural, more youthful height. If necessary, enlarged areolas are reduced by excising skin at the perimeter and excess breast skin is removed to compensate for a loss of elasticity.

Closing the incisions

After Dr. Few reshapes the breast, he places sutures deep within the breast tissue for support and sutures the incisions to close. While some incision lines are concealed in the natural breast contours, others may be visible on the skin’s surface. Incision lines are permanent, but most will fade and significantly improve over time.

Your results

The visible improvements of your procedure will appear as the bruising and swelling subside. The healing process depends on the type of procedure or combination of procedures you have and your individual ability to heal. Dr. Few is happy to answer any questions you have about the healing process. Dr. Few is very proud to have a strict post surgical laser protocol to minimize scars for optimal results.
