Lower Body / Thigh / Gluteal Lift

Lift and tighten

The lower body lift is a surgical procedure that tightens loose, sagging skin in the buttocks, posterior thighs, hips, outer thighs, and anterior thighs. The lower body lift procedure can be combined with a tummy tuck or liposuction if needed.

If a previous tummy tuck has been performed or is not needed, the lower body lift can be extended to tighten the inner thighs. Dr. Few is an expert on buttocks, hips & thighs in Chicago and can help you achieve a contoured lower body.

Procedural Steps

Anesthesia

Dr. Few generally performs lower body lifts under general anesthesia so that you remain comfortable during your procedure.

Incisions

Lower body lift incisions pass from the back around the hips to the front of the thighs. The loose skin, as well as underlying fat tissue, is removed from below the incision to allow the remaining tissues to stretch and smooth the lower body, especially the buttocks and thighs.

In an inner thigh lift, an incision is made on the inside of the thighs much like a seam in a pair of pants to remove excessive skin. In less severe cases of inner thigh laxity, a modification limits the incision to the groin crease. Dr. Few will assist you in finding the right balance between the approach and desired result.

The incisions are designed to be hidden by clothing and sportswear or to lie in normally occurring anatomic folds when possible.

Closing the incision

Dr. Few uses layered suture techniques to carefully close the area of incision in a way that maintains the lift, tightening and smoothing the remaining skin. Incisions are closed with sutures, skin adhesives or surgical clips.

Your results

Swelling, which is commonly seen after body lift surgery, is controlled by compression garments and the use of drains for excess fluid, as necessary. Full healing of the circumferential incisions may take four or more weeks.

Brazilian Buttock Lift

Lift and project

The Brazilian butt lift procedure is designed to fill the upper quadrant of your buttocks so that the butt appears lifted and perky. To get these results, Dr. Few performs a fat transfer using liposuctioned fat from the stomach, thighs or other surrounding areas with excess fat deposits. The fat suctioned from these areas is harvested and re-injected to the buttocks for augmentation.

Procedural Steps

Anesthesia

Dr. Few will use either oral, IV or general anesthesia so that you remain comfortable during your procedure. Oral anesthesia procedures are performed on-site at The Few Institute in a fully certified procedure room.

Before the procedure, Dr. Few will inject a tumescent solution (a large volume of fluid that contains anesthetic) into the treatment area(s), which will numb the the tissues and shrink the blood vessels to minimize bleeding and make contouring easier during the procedure. This fluid is partially removed as part of the procedure and what remains is digested by the body.

Incision and injection

First, liposuction is performed through small, inconspicuous incisions. Fat is loosened and carefully harvested from the body. After it is processed (washed), Dr. Few carefully reinjects the fat into premarked areas of the buttocks.

Your results

After the procedure, you will wear a compression garment home from surgery to assist with healing and tightening of skin. Swelling and fluid retention are common. Although you can expect to recover from bruising and swelling in a few weeks, the average patient usually needs 3 weeks after surgery before attempting strenuous activities. Although fat grafting to the buttock is permanent, the procedure may need to be repeated to achieve your desired results.
