What is a “Mommy Makeover?”

A mommy makeover is not a procedure, but a set of procedures. The surgeries that could be part of a custom mommy makeover include:

  • Breast lift: Many women are left with damaged breast tissue after pregnancy and breastfeeding. A breast lift restores a youthful, perky look to the breasts.
  • Breast lift with augmentation: If you have less breast volume and your breasts appear looser or deflated, you may choose to undergo a breast lift combined with augmentation.
  • Breast reduction: Some women choose to reduce breast volume with a custom breast reduction.
  • Tummy tuck: When the abdominal muscles have been overstretched during pregnancy, they may appear split (diastasis recti), or cannot return to the firm, slim look enjoyed before pregnancy. A tummy tuck can restore stretched muscles, remove excess skin and fat for a taut, firm tummy zone.
  • Liposuction: The body naturally stores fat during pregnancy, which may be very difficult to shed. Excess fat lodged on the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs can be sculpted away with liposuction.
  • Stretch mark removal: A tummy tuck can remove stretch marks on the lower abdomen.

The body you love to show off – mommy makeover.

Rather than feeling you need to hide the damage to your body from pregnancy and breastfeeding, a mommy makeover will inspire you to wear tight, revealing clothing with confidence. While many of the procedures involve incisions, they are carefully placed to be invisible, even in a bikini or low-cut garments. In many cases, a mommy makeover can leave you looking even more attractive than before you got pregnant – slim and shapely in the best possible way.

What is the procedure?

As your mommy makeover is a customized, the procedure steps vary. If several procedures are necessary, such as a breast lift and tummy tuck, they may be performed in one surgical appointment, or in stages. The most common combination is tummy tuck and breast lift.

These surgeries are performed under general anesthetic and require incisions on the lower abdomen and breasts. The incision patterns vary, based on the extent of the damage. After the mommy makeover is complete, you can return home, under the care of another adult, to rest and recover.

How long will it take to recover from a mommy makeover?

You will need some patience to enjoy the full results of a mommy makeover. In most cases, you should plan on about two weeks off work and other activities. Initially, you can expect swelling and bruising, and should plan on arranging help from another adult, as you must limit any lifting, bending, or other motions that could put stress on the incisions. As the days pass, the swelling fades, and your new figure appears.
